How Joining Works

  1. Reach out Email us at join@troop10rwc.org and let us know you're interested. Tell us a bit about your scout and what they're excited about.
  2. Come to a meeting We'll invite you to visit a regular troop meeting or an upcoming hike. No commitment required — just come see what we're like.
  3. Register with Scouting America If it's a good fit, we'll walk you through the official Scouting America registration process. Annual membership fees apply.
  4. Hit the trail Once registered, you're part of the troop. Attend meetings, join outings, and start working toward your goals.

Common Questions

Does my scout need outdoor experience?

Not at all. We start from the beginning with new scouts — gear basics, trail etiquette, camping fundamentals — and build from there. What matters is enthusiasm, not experience.

What's the age range?

Troop 10 is open to scouts ages 11–17, or until they complete high school. Scouts age out at 18 but may continue as adult volunteers.

How often does the troop meet and go on trips?

We hold regular troop meetings and aim for at least one outdoor outing per month — a mix of day hikes, weekend campouts, and multi-day backpacking trips throughout the year.

Are parents or guardians involved?

Parental involvement is welcome and encouraged, though not required at every event. Some parents become registered adult volunteers. All adults working with the troop complete Scouting America's youth protection training.

What does it cost?

There is an annual Scouting America membership fee, plus per-trip costs for transportation and supplies. We work to keep costs reasonable and can discuss financial assistance on a case-by-case basis. Email us for current fee information.
